Projekt has come at us with a brand new track and exclusivly only downloadable at DNB Muzik.
We are showcasing this bright upcoming producer’s talents to you.
Can you tell us how you got the name Projekt?
I decided on that name when I went solo on my musical journey. I knew i was starting a new project and didn’t really know what i was going for. I kept saying to myself “what am i going to call this new project” then realized the name was in the question!
Where are you based?
I have spent my whole life in Northampton. I hate change in routine so I think i will be here a while yet!
How did you get into drum and bass?
I got into drum and bass when a mate had a CD in his car and I was curious as to what it was. I already knew the likes of Pendulum and Sub Focus but as I got older I started wondering how these producers made sounds like that only using “instruments”. Then when I went to college, I began producing and the rest is history!
Who inspires you in the dnb scene?
Most people inspire me if i’m honest. Going to raves and seeing DJ’s like Andy C and Hype command a crowd with those kind of vibes made me want to try and achieve that feeling for myself. Whether it was in front of 20 people or 20,000, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
How long have you been producing?
I have been producing for about 5 years but only really got heavily into it in the last 2/3 years. Buying a new computer was a major game changer!
What inspired you to make this track?
I like all genres of music, and all sub genres of drum and bass. I love the mental drum patterns and warping basses of neuro/techy tunes like this and thought I’d have a go myself.
Trying to figure out how the big names can get so much into a track and not overload it is the best part!
What DAW are you on and any favourite vst’s?
When I purchased my new PC, I moved from Pro Tools to Cubase 8. Pro tools was a go to for me when i started because I had studied it at college. But for me it was a major drag on time and didn’t seem to suit me for what i wanted to do. So after hours of researching I decided I would bite the bullet and switch to Cubase. And I am so glad I did!
I don’t really use any plugins out of the ordinary. I have recently discovered Serum which is about as good as a synth can get in my opinion!
What are your top 5 tracks at the moment?
That is a very tough question.
In no order I would have to say:
Dead Limit – Noisia
Robots & Romans (Audio Remix) – June Miller
Contraband – Konichi
Oscillator – Delta Heavy
Ritalin – Klax
And your top 5 all time?
This is even harder! There is probably 20 tunes that deserve to be in this list as I mix them in pretty much every set but these 5 stick out to me I guess!
Crucify Me – ShockOne
Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix) – The Prodigy
Kingdom – Spor
She Said – Emperor
LK – Marky & XRS
What gigs are you looking forward to this summer?
Summer gathering is a must! Last year was amazing, Garry K and the team put on a top show every time. Playing last year was one of the best experiences of my life so I wont be missing that for anything.
Hopefully going out to City flow again in Antwerp to. Last year was quality so will be good to get back out there!
What do you like about DNB Muzik?
I like DNB Muzik because they cover the whole spectrum of drum and bass. It is also a great outlet for discovering hidden stars sat in their bedroom producing killer beats with no one to listen to them. Without people like this it would be so much harder for people without a following to get their name heard.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. Hopefully there will be many more releases and many more shows!
Thank you to Blackley for mastering this song, I strongly recommend any producers needing to add some final magic to their tunes to hit up the wizard himself!
Thank you to all the producers for giving me the advice that’s got me here, and thank you to the promoters for giving me a chance to play!
If you want to listen to my other music, or mixes follow the links provided. I’m always happy to talk to!
