‘London’ has arrived and marks the 4th installment of the now infamous ‘City Series’. Logan D & Dominator spare no expense unleashing onto the masses, a cyclopean double-sided effort that would make even the most discerning DNB historian proud. London is after all the heart, home and birthplace of all things Drum & Bass.
First up, ‘Giant Killa Bees’ begins with an intro as eerie as the egregious London Fog and as worthy of a rewind as the bassline itself. Really though, how many tunes would have you calling for a pull up just to hear the intro one more time? And that’s not all of course, the bassline and beats throughout are as much militant and in your face as they are smooth, bubbly, & full of good vibes. In short, this tune brilliantly treads the line between the darkness and the light, and sports a categorically haunting intro that resurfaces before the second drop just for good measure. ‘Giant Killa Bees’ mean business, and so did Dominator and the one like Logan D when they buttoned up this staggering, marvellous tune.
On the flip, ‘Hooligan’ is here to do one thing and one thing only…set the rave ablaze. A nod to the film ‘the hooligan factory’ and football hooligan subculture, this tune is full of aggression and energy, whilst also being that go to Jump Up Roller you know will set the dance floor on fire when you pull it from your bag, like a mean left hook that came out of nowhere. With production techniques, sounds & arrangements similar to that of the modern classic, ‘Education’, this tune is sure to be doing damage at a rave near you for quite a while.
